Zachari Smith, who was commonly regarded as “the fattest man in Britain” because he weighs in at 297kg ( near 660 lbs). He recently traveled to India to undergo radical bariatric surgery to help him conquer his morbid obesity. The surgery was sleeve gastronomy, and is the 1st step in a 2 step procedure. Super morbidly obese patients have an increased danger of health issues if they exclusively undergo gastric bypass first, so the procedure is done in stages to get a portion of the total weight reduced before undertaking the last step of total gastric bypass.

This patient is considered to be the record biggest patient to undertake weight loss surgical treatment in Asia. The target weight loss of Mr. Smith will be to get close to 200 lbs.

Mr. Smith was starting to have issues with walking around so he sought after the aid of laparoscopic doctor Dr. Shashank Shah from India. Identified to be developing numerous dangerous co-morbid health conditions that could set him on a path for premature death, he underwent the surgical treatment.

Unquestionably being the heaviest Individual ever operated on in Asia is an amazing feat, but even more, Mr. Smith will have his life back! Congratulations.Bariatric Surgery Center

This sounds a little like a torture tactic but a new weight loss surgery involves pulling a portion of the stomach out of the patient’s mouth. The hope is that it will eliminate the abdominal pain that a patient undergoes after laparoscopic weight loss surgery.

The University of California, San Diego Medical Center is leading the charge in the research of this type of groundbreaking surgery.

The surgery is fantastic because it reduces the pain involved in healing from a abdominal cut. The incision in a traditional laparoscopic bariatric procedure involving stomach removal can be much larger than that just a pinhole size. When the surgeon has to cut through any level of abdominal, there is a certain amount of pain and other issues that can arise from such an invasive procedure.

The result of weight loss surgery through a natural orifice such as the mouth seems to be faster recovery times and less overall pain. All in all, the bariatric surgery is very similar to traditional laparoscopic weight loss surgery except for the fact that there is no incision to the abdomen.

Incisionless bariatric surgery is the closest direct path to the stomach, the mouth. With this surgery, a portion of the stomach is removed through the esophagus and comes out through the mouth. Similar weight-loss surgeries have carried the portion of the stomach out through natural orifice areas of the body such as the anus or vagina, however through the mouth has not been thoroughly tested for potential risks.

One of the medical risk factors that needs to be considered in a surgery of this nature is potential risk of stomach leakage into the abdominal cavity. While there is no surgery without risk, the surgery is promising for the future. The risks so far appear to be low. It can be noted that, so far, it does not appear to be a problem and patients are getting good results. If the process proves to be safe, you can expect to see this type of surgery become commonplace among bariatric clinics around the country.

Weight Loss Surgery Support Groups - Importance of Support Communities for Weight loss Surgery Healing

Looking for bariatric surgery support is essential to letting you productively navigating your own journey following weight loss surgery. The doctor’s clinic is the best place to get advice for essential inquiries about the surgical procedure however, you will want someplace to ask other people the small everyday questions. Bariatric surgery support communities really are a setting to talk about your current success and also locate support to help you get over the difficult parts of the recovery. You’ll find nothing is just like having exhortation of somebody who has undoubtedly been through what you are in the days following surgery. The following is how to get weight loss surgery help through weight loss surgery support groups.

Support organizations frequently help patients who have not had surgery yet gain knowledge from the viewpoints of post-surgical bariatric treatment patients. The brand new weight loss surgery patients present an outstanding opportunity to connect with other folks, seek advice, as well as discuss their own expectations and fears. Frequently you’ll find that the medical doctor will certainly visit from time to time to undertake difficult health related issues coming from the support group and will in most cases defer the rest of the meeting to the support group overseer.

During the period that individuals proceed through the support process, particularly in the initial year following surgery, education and the human touch is essential. Many people are not ready for the challenges that the adjustments may bring to their lifestyle, and it will help to lean on others who have already been down that path. Becoming knowledgeable of the specifics seriously isn’t always adequate. There is an psychological element to going through the major lifestyle changes involved immediately after the surgical procedure. These days, a growing number of weight loss treatment centers are going to employ the help of specialized advisors, dieticians, trainers, physicians, and even beauty specialists who can bring their experience to encouraging the all around success of their patients. Patient support is really the key to being successful.

In the event you are unable to come across a group to enroll for post weight loss surgical procedure support, think about starting up your own. Search for some other patients within driving distance and setup a gathering. Practically everybody who’s surgical treatment is seeking a support group if they do not have one currently.

A huge mistake that folks make as they try to drop weight is to shun the support of peers. Plenty of weight loss patients believe they are able to confront everything without having anyone else’s help.

Support groups supply a place for patients to break free from the disgrace of “messing up” following weight loss surgery. You shouldn’t be one of those people who struggle in shame. Understand that, as a medical patient, you have help readily available. Patients that don’t understand this are stuck on a likely path of failure. There’s no valid reason to never attend a meeting. It enables you to draw from the suggestions and ideas of others going through the very same difficulties. Connect with people! You will be thankful you did!

If you wish to get a good jump start on exactly what to anticipate following bariatric surgery, attend a group support meeting before having your surgical treatment. Don’t forget that individuals can provide a level of expertise and practical knowledge that can help guide you throughout the entire treatment process. Support groups frequently result in mentorship of group participants. The encouragement and suggestions can be an excellent asset to any person recovering from obesity through medical treatment. Is fantastic to have somebody that you can call up or e-mail at any time for support. It gives you strength to understand that a person is there with you along the way.

It is a superb place that one can learn from other people’s problems. Everybody makes mistakes, and if you are willing to talk it out with other people, you will discover that you can cope and adapt to your special circumstances. Unless you’ve encountered it, you never know how critical it is to have someone who has been in your shoes and you can share your deepest feelings and emotions about your weight struggle. In these types of meetings, you will make wonderful friendships. Don’t go with a mentor, it will just harm you in the end. Why would you want to be on your own? The strength of the whole group will strengthen you as an person.

Bariatric WLS Support Groups are not only about airing your troubles. You will find that they’re pretty entertaining social events as well. Just before you have your surgery, attend at least one meeting to learn more about what it’s like to have weight loss surgery. Just go to a meeting and listen closely. Ask plenty of questions to not only the group but the people who are there. It is important that when you decide you’re going go through with the medical treatment that you continue to attend the group meetings and stay in contact with successful patients. It adds a brand new dimension to your healing process. All things considered, the surgery is merely the starting point, since this is an ongoing journey. Meetings are a safe place to congregate with others and talk about the stories of your recovery from obesity. Not only that you will find that there is a lot more in terms of continuing education that will enhance your new lifestyle.

Staying power is one of those elements that people who’re attempting to shed some pounds seem to lose pretty readily. In their own minds, body fat can certainly not be lost soon enough. People desire to be skinny, and they want it now

The end result is a microwave weight reducing attitude. Reality tv’s message about weight loss is that weight reduction can be effective when done quickly. As a result of lose weight quickly media hype of one hour reality television shows, rapid weight reduction looks like it could be accomplished really effortlessly. This perception by modern society is a little different from just what reality genuinely is like.

Speedy weight loss seems like the essential aspiration of anyone who is burdensome, but could it be wise? The fact is that often it isn’t really the top way to approach weight loss. Our mind will certainly say to all of us that the top approach in losing weight is to just attempt to get it done as fast as possible. This notion causes individuals to try to limit their food intake while at the same time engaging in excessive physical exercise. Trouble is it simply won’t last.

There are lots of complications that can occur from slimming down too quickly. What many people do not understand is that often whenever you lose weight fast, you will be getting rid of different types of tissue in your body. Frequently this is fat and muscle mass. The quicker that body weight is dropped, the more muscle is shed, not fat.

As a rule we all want lasting effects rapidly, but when we decrease muscle mass, it isn’t feasible. Weight is likely to return faster than earlier when the metabolically active muscle mass is reduced. This seems like a horror movie, but its true, the faster we lose weight, the more quickly it will be restored (and often more). Sound like a lost cause? It isn’t. If you know the way the game of weight reduction is played, then its doable.

There are certain situations where it can be alright to lose in excess of two pounds a week. For those who are actually morbidly obese, and the initial body weight is very large, you proceed by a relative amount. It is normally advocated that 1% weight loss per overall weight is acceptable.

Keep in mind that you should keep in mind a couple of points any time you’re starting a weight reducing routine at an elevated weight. Where the real blubber, I mean the rubber, hits the road is and how much body fat tissue is eliminated in the process. It’s also advised that a medical doctor oversees the plan so it will end up being safe.

Before engaging in weight loss surgery, it may be useful to evaluate the bariatric surgery testimonies to understand if the surgery would be a benefit to your needs. Even though this particular surgery has demonstrated to be a powerful technique in treating obesity, it is inevitably only a tool. If you would like your weight loss to be permanent, it is very best to take off the weight over time.

Vertical sleeve gastrectomy is one of the most sought after bariatric surgical treatments asked for by morbidly obese individuals. Customarily, this procedure is a precursor to the reduction of the level of hormones that influences food craving. Patients encounter a broad assortment of outcomes, but most have a spectacular shift in weight loss.

For morbidly obese patients with a Body Mass Index in excess of 60, standard gastric bypass operations such as the roux-en-y, poses a sky-high level of risk. Knowing the danger, gastric sleeve is utilized as this procedure can be carried out easily through a laparoscope and with remarkably much less danger. When sufficient weight is shed, a second treatment is done which is a classical gastric bypass surgery.

Patients who are candidates for a lap-band surgery are often anxious simply because a foreign body will be implanted within their abdominal region. With sleeve gastrectomy, there will be no implantation of any kind of foreign object directly into any part of your body which makes it an extremely appealing alternative for a lot of individuals. Long-term side effects like intestinal obstruction, protein and vitamin deficit, and low iron levels, which are expected in lap-band, will no longer be a problem with gastric sleeve since it is only the stomach that is being resected. Besides that, it does not need an adjustment or filling following the surgery. This means lesser follow-up appointments that will certainly always be very convenient. Patients would be able to return to their usual lifestyle in no time.

There are several health concerns that contraindicate traditional medical remedies for obesity. Health issues such as Crohn’s disease, systemic lupus erythematus (SLE), and low iron levels are just a few of this long line of conditions. With vertical sleeve surgery, this would suggest an opportunity to get rid of obesity from the precipitating factors that contribute to the exacerbation of chronic disease and complications of obesity itself.

In the context of weight loss surgery, gastric sleeve is considered the middle ground of gastric band and gastric bypass. For that reason, this method generally is a very good choice for individuals who, in any way, could not undergo a gastric bypass which often could be the key to losing weight and transforming their health status and lifestyle in a much larger sense.

Gastric bypass is a type of weight loss surgery or bariatric surgery performed to limit food consumption. A small pouch is created to limit the amount of food you can take and bypasses on segments of the small intestine are constructed to reduce its ability to absorb nutrients. The operation usually takes up to four hours to complete and is performed under general anesthesia.

How is gastric bypass surgery performed? There are currently two techniques for gastric bypass: (1) Roux-en-Y-gastric bypass or RGB and (2)biliopancreatic diversion bypass

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass

Roux-en Y gastric bypass or RGB is the most commonly employed procedure in the United States. It is less complicated and is least likely to result in nutritional difficulties. A small stomach pouch is created by stapling part of the stomach together and a Y-shaped section in the small intestine is then attached to the pouch. This limits food intake and reduces the ability to absorb calories and nutrients. This is known as stomach stapling.

RGB can be done in two ways: traditional and laparoscopic Traditional Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is performed by open surgery with one long incision. Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y uses a laparoscope, a thin instrument that allows the surgeon to view the inside of the abdomen on a TV monitor. This procedure causes less scarring and lets the patient recover faster.

Biliopancreatic diversion bypass

Biliopancreatic diversion bypass is more extensive than Roux-en-Y.This complicated gastric bypass aims for a smaller stomach that holds less food. The procedure removes the lower portion of the stomach and a small pouch is left to connect directly to the final segment of the small intestine. This procedure bypasses both the duodenum and jejunum to cause malabsorption of nutrients. Like traditional RGB, biliopancreatic diversion bypass is performed through open surgery and with one long incision leaving a permanent scar. This procedure is not as widely used as RGB because of the high risk for nutritional deficiencies.

Advantages of Gastric Bypass Surgery

People who undergo bariatric weight loss surgery can achieve significant loss of weight in 2 years. Since a large section of the stomach is bypassed, only a small pouch is left that severely restricts the amount of food that the person can consume. Patients must consume highly nutritious and protein-rich food to meet dietary requirements. Those who undergo the operation will most likely no longer able to tolerate sugars and carbohydrates which contribute to weight loss.

Gastric bypass surgery also has positive effects on weight-related health concerns such as heart diseases and high blood pressure. Type 2 diabetes can also be eradicated by gastric bypass surgery.

Gastric bypass is a type of weight loss surgery performed to cut down food intake. Gastric bypass procedures usually create small pouch to limit food intake and bypasses on segments of the small intestine are constructed for malabsorption of food nutrients. The surgery is a complicated procedure performed under general anesthesia. The surgery takes about one to four hours followed by a one-to seven-day stay in the hospital.

How is gastric bypass surgery performed? There are currently two techniques for gastric bypass: (1) Roux-en-Y-gastric bypass or RGB and (2)biliopancreatic diversion bypass

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass

Roux-en Y gastric bypass (RGB) is the most commonly performed gastric bypass procedure in the United States because it is less complicated and least likely to result in nutritional difficulties. In the procedure, a small stomach pouch is created by stapling part of the stomach together to limit food intake. A Y-shaped section in the small intestine is then attached to the pouch to reduce calorie and nutrient absorption. The pouch is commonly referred to as stomach stapling.

RGB can be done in two ways: traditional and laparoscopic Traditional Roux-en-Y is performed through open surgery with one long incision. Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass uses a thin instrument called laparoscope so that the surgeon can view the inside of the abdomen on a TV monitor. Laparoscopic RGB produces less scarring and lets the patient recover faster.

Biliopancreatic diversion bypass (extensive gastric bypass)

Biliopancreatic diversion bypass is a more extensive bypass operation. The aim of this complicated gastric bypass is a smaller stomach.Unlike RGB, the procedure removes the lower portion of the stomach and a small pouch is left to connect directly to the final segment of the small intestine. This bypasses both the duodenum and jejunum to cause malabsorption of nutrients. Similar to RGB, biliopancreatic diversion bypass is employed through open surgery and with one long incision. It leaves a permanent scar. This procedure is not as widely used as RGB because of the high risk for nutritional deficiencies.

Benefits of Gastric Bypass Surgery

People who undergo bariatric weight loss surgery can achieve significant loss of weight in 2 years. Since a large section of the stomach is bypassed, only a small pouch is left that severely restricts the amount of food that the person can consume. The food that is consumed must be rich in protein and highly nutritious so that dietary requirements are met. The person will most likely be unable to tolerate sugars and carbohydrates which contribute to weight loss.

Gastric bypass also has positive effects on common weight-related health problems such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. Patients with Type 2 diabetes has been known to improve after the surgery.

Whenever you study diet-related publications regularly, you’re likely to come across numerous bits of advice on the subject of weight reduction. Some of these suggestions really work, while others fail to deliver. The ones that as a rule don’t work are those that advocate dietary fads and weight loss pills. The particular recommendations that truly succeed for everybody will almost always be simple: healthy diet along with the appropriate workout program. But unfortunately, the weight loss industry is brimming with misconceptions in addition to unreliable data, and some people have a tendency to overlook the facts, either because of lack of knowledge or sometimes mainly because they expect to make money from misleading others. In this short article I will focus on 3 of these dieting myths.

Myth #1: Spot reduction of fat is achievable. Nope, it’s not a possibility. Slimming authorities concur with this fact, unanimously. You can’t force your body to get rid of unwanted fat located at specific places under any conditions, regardless of what sorts of exercises you choose to do or even devices you use. If you do only ab crunches and leg lifts regularly, wishing to reduce abdominal fat, you will be disappointed to see that rather than trimming your abdominal fat, you are likely to shrink the muscle mass that exists in the tummy. That is why, your focus shouldn’t be on sit ups and leg lifts exclusively. You should also stick to a healthy food plan that would increase your metabolic rate and also help you burn off fat rapidly.

Myth #2: A profound reduction in your calorie intake reduces excess weight. This is the most serious of the three myths. It has pushed many folks towards the extreme of crash dieting. People decide on crash dieting with the hope of dropping extra weight quickly, but they don’t understand the fact that crash dieting harms their bodies as opposed to improving their health. In fact, whenever you starve or fast, your body responds by going into starvation mode. It slows down your metabolic rate and actually uses up your lean muscle ahead of fat to satisfy your energy needs. This is the complete opposite of what you’re looking for. You don’t eliminate a lot of fat at all, but you do be deprived of your vital muscle tissue. This also lowers your resting metabolism even more, so that whenever you return to your original meal plan, it’s going to be easier for you to gain more weight yet again. This is actually the process associated with yo-yo dieting, to which a lot of people seem to be at risk. It’s not healthy, neither for the short term or the long run.

Myth #3: Only aerobic workouts will help you lose weight. No, plus they may well not be the most effective alternative. While it’s unmistakable that cardio workouts can certainly help most people get rid of excess fat, it is far from true that this is actually the only real form of slimming activity available or even the most effective. Actually, strength training surpasses either cardio workouts or aerobic exercise. Lifting weights not only makes it possible to reduce fat in the course of your exercise routine, but additionally , it grows your muscles, which then burns more calories even when you’re at rest.

I truly pray that this commentary has destroyed these damaging dieting myths and made it easier for you to be aware of the facts. For advice about how to lose weight safely and for a free automated fat loss calculator that calculates your recommended calorie consumption and activity amount, go to LoseFatPronto.com.

This treatment is generally for patients who are excessively overweight or have a very slow metabolism. It is prescribed for males who are 100 pounds and women are eighty pounds overweight. This operation is moreover a alternative for patients who have diabetes, cardiovascular complications or sleep apnea.

Bariatric operations will limit the amount of food you can take in. Various other procedures are also done to curb your craving or limit the total amount of food you can consume. One such procedure is gastric bypass surgery, one of the most commonly performed bariatric surgery in the US. Surgeries like gastric banding is also preferred to help morbidly obese teenagers control their weight. Through the years, medical specialists have refined the methods for gastric bypass surgery to be able to improve the effects as well as minimize the potential risks of the surgery.

Is bariatric surgery valuable?

The success of weight loss surgical treatment is generally determined if the patient has lost half of extra body volume and maintained that level for five years. The result of the surgical procedure may vary depending on the general health condition of the patient and the skills of the physician. Up to 50-60% of excess weight may be dropped off even until 10-14 years after surgery.. A lot of individuals have also been proven to improve from several health-related complications such as sleep apnea, chronic back pain, hypertension, diabetes and depression.

It is important to check with a knowledgeable medical doctor if you are contemplating weight loss surgical treatment or bariatric surgery for weight loss. You should also consult other health and fitness experts such as your psychiatrist and dietitian regarding some subconscious roadblocks in terms of interfering with long-term objectives after the procedure.

Stanford University clinical researchers are now claiming that hereditary tests created by Interleukin Genetics could actually help overweight patients recognize whether low-fat or a low-carbohydrate weight loss plan could be the most effective strategy to lose weight. The actual research project revealed that people with certain genetic predisposition responded much better to certain diet plans, the Wall Street Journal stated. “Knowing your genotype for low carb or low fat diets could help you increase your weight-loss success,” said Stanford Professor Christopher Gardner.

It takes time to lose from excessive weight gain over the years. You don’t want to be hindered by the gain in weight your body has undergone over the years. Healthy weight is very important.

Other Things to Consider in Weight Loss

First of all , an over-weight individual should do is seek a health care professional to suggest the best weight loss regimen. This can be done after a complete physical check-up, which results in the determination of suitable weight reduction technique. And to lose weight quick and effectively 4 facets of life ought to be altered: what to consume, how to eat the meals, habits and exercise level.

Weight Loss Centers May Help

If you are interested in joining a weight loss center, first thing you must do is fully familiarize all of your options. This may include asking those that you know, like friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, or your doctor, for referrals, using the web, or your neighborhood phone book. After you have the contact information for a variety of local weight loss centers, you can apply a little bit of homework or comparison. What you will want to do is examine all of the membership advantages that you are offered, like use of wholesome recipes, food magazines, usage of an on-site conditioning center, and so on. Then, you should compare member’s program charges.

Smartlipo Liposuction Liposuction is a operation that is provided on a daily basis in the United States, and one that often requires additional procedures to eliminate extra skin remaining when a mass of fat tissue is basically removed from the body. For many folks, liposuction can be a painful experience, but technology often holds the key to open doors that lead to improvement, especially in liposuction. SmartLipo, or also generically called “laser lipo”. Called a a medical phenomenon in some healthcare circles SmartLipo Is making a substantial impact in the world of cosmetic surgeries. SmartLipo delivers on what it states it will do, and that is take out fat without problems.

Old-style Liposuction - Invasive and Dicey

Liposuction has been performed on millions of people in the years following its FDA approval in 1982. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 300,000 consumers in the United States undergone invasive bariatric surgery in the last year to remove fat from inside their bodies. The cannula, or tube, utilized in traditional liposuction is in the range of four and six mm in diameter & involves an incision that must be stitched up. When the excruciating surgery is complete, patients are required to strapped into compression bandages constantly for at least six weeks. Often there will be unsightly lumpiness below the skin where the fat tissue was removed unevenly, principally in less experienced surgeons.

SmartLipo Benefits

With Smartlipo, by first melting away fatty tissues prior to vacuum elimination, general disturbance to surrounding tissue is reduced to a great extent. The individual’s life and vigor are revitalized soon after surgical treatment because pain and recuperation time is kept to a minimum. With the SmartLipo surgery, recovery begins as soon as the process is completed. This is because of the fact that no general anesthesia is needed.

SmartLipo benefits are quicker recuperation times and with a reduction of pain. The laser light creates spontaneous coagulation of the minute capillaries in the adipose tissue. The diminutive laser beam seals the capillaries around the fat cells as it instantly liquifies the fat. It also involves no incisions or general anesthesia. This is the reason behind why the faster healing and recovery times are achieved in patients.

The laser treatment allows your Smart Lipo surgeon to apply the minimally invasive process consistently to all areas being treated, using the laser as a guide. Ask if your doctor has a SmartLipo MPX machine, the cutting edge technology in laser lipo surgery, that works by spreading out heat uniformly as it melts away adipose tissue.

In place of the hulking tubes and uncomfortable office visits called for in old-style liposuction, SmartLipo utilizes miniaturized tools & specialized technology to liquify fat cells for contouring & resculpting portions of the body including the neck, love handles, abdomen, backs, thighs, hips, knees, arms, & chin. The laser causes minute vessels to congeal immediately on contact, resulting in less blood loss, inflammationtenderness, and bruising. Generally, there is a much quicker healing time than traditional liposuction. This means that you are normally in and out of the office within one to three hours and convalesce in the coziness of your own dwelling. Most SmartLipo doctors urge that most patients get a number of days of relaxation, just for good measure, before returning to work.

SmartLipo Compression Garments

Compression garments also help the physique in settling into its new contour. The size of the area of the body that is operated on is very important in the time that is necessary for the compression garments will need to be worn postoperative by the patient. However the truth remains, compression garments don’t need to be worn as long for SmartLipo as in conventional liposuction. Because there is not as nearly as much tissue disturbance & bleeding in Smartlipo as that connected with traditional liposuction, compression garments are only suggested for approximately two weeks, purely precautionary for the top outcome achievable. Compression bandages are essential since they cave in the tunnels produced under the skin as the body fat is melted away. The outcome is a flatter more contoured body surface that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

SmartLipo is a surgical treatment where fatty tissue is extracted by lasers and drained out by a tube like device called a cannula. The procedure itself is dubbed Laserlipolysis. It is one of the original laserlipolysis procedures to be approved by the US food and drug administration . Other than manually moving the cannula all the way through the area of fat removal as in liposuction, plastic bariatric surgeons use a lot narrower cannula (tubing that is one millimeter in diameter), that has a laser affixed to the tip. In fact, the incisions of the laser’s insertion points are not very noticeable & don’t require stitches. It is commonplace in the long-established liposuction to see a great deal of bruising and tissue destruction from the sharp action of the surgical cannula.

Beneficial “Side Effect of SmartLipo Laser Treatment

Ever considered having, but was not sure about, collagen lip injections? Collagen is the connective foundational tissue supporting the epidermis that provides us with a youthful appearance. Collagen degrades over time & skin loses it elasticity. This is the main cause of skin wrinkling. The fatty tissue liquifying wavelengths of laser light stimulates deep skin tissue which initiates collagen production. This will impart a retraction in addition to tissue tightening as the body convalesces. The outcome will be a younger and more rested appearance.

In addition to melting the fat, Smartlipo surgical treatment has been verified to tighten the underlying tissue, consequently inducing collagen production in the skin. The energy aimed by the laser to the area beneath the exterior of the body encourages the development of collagen as more or less like a “side effect” of the primary procedure, but in this case, it is a good side effect. Post-operative, the body part definitely appears much more toned as a result of this treatment.

Smartlipo? laser lipolysis is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laser to obliterate unwanted fat rapidly, whether on the neck, face, back, arms, thighs, or breasts. In stark contrast to old-style liposuction, laserlipolysis targets fat tissue only and melts it for draining & absorption into the lymph system. The cannula moves almost like the doctor is moving a fiddle bow back and forth under the epidermis as it is moved back and forth to deliver the laser’s energy to the fat cells. Once the laser beam strikes the fat tissues, the fat cells rip apart & easily drain away through the cannula tubing. For the leftover liquefied fat that does not bleed in the first day, it is eventually flushed naturally from the body by means of the lymphatic system.

The lasting effects of the laser lipo procedure are excellent. From the laser utilized to dissolve the fat cells in place, to the cauterizing of blood vessels to minimize blood loss, and finally to the non-traumatization of connective tissue is beneficial. SmartLipo is a rather intelligent alternative for anyone who has localized fat that should be surgically removed. In the minimally invasive surgery, you can exactly walk away from it on the same afternoon. I offer it a thumbs up.

Ever wonder about Gastric Band Surgery? In Keyhole Gastric Band surgery, or Lap-Banding surgery, a ring is positioned across part of the stomach to make a small stomach pouch. This reduces the craving to graze during the day between meals.

Gastric Band Surgery

Like anything else, there are many things to consider with Lap Banding surgery versus alternative types of extreme bariatric surgical treatment similar to gastric bypass surgery. The pros of lap band bariatric operation can be that it is a simpler surgery, healing is commonly faster and it may be reversed as opposed to alternative bariatric surgeries. The drawbacks of Lap Banding procedures may include poorer fat reduction and the overall possibility of gaining all your fat again over the long term.

During the Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding procedure, bariatric surgeons frequently utilize laparoscopic methods (utilizing small incisions and long-narrow instruments), to implant an inflatable silicone adjustable banding into the patient’s abdomen. Prefer a wristwatch, the band is fastened around the higher abdomen to make a new, small stomach pocket that limits and regulates the amount of food you eat at any one meal. It also causes a small outlet that slows the food emptying into the rest of the stomach and the upper small intestines. As a result, patients experience an earlier sense of fullness and are happy with lesser amounts of food. Overall, this ends up causing weight reduction.

The LAP-BAND is considered the least invasive weight loss surgical treatment option. The LAP-BAND procedure utilizes a silicone band that’s fastened around the higher portion of the stomach, significantly reducing the volume, or size of the stomach pouch. The banded higher abdomen or small ‘pocket’ creates a feeling of fullness when eating only small portion sizes of cuisine before having to quit. The band is adjustable, so tightening the band further increases the sensation of fullness, and over a long period of time, can resume to reduce daily calorie intake. The inner shell of the lap band is increased in size by adding a saline solution into a self-sealing access dock positioned just beneath the skin. This permits the bariatric surgeon to extend or cut back the volume of the band to best encourage triumphant weight control. Although not an intended choice, the LAP-BAND is removable and absolutely revertible.

Lap band operations, approved by the FDA in 2001, is the safest, least invasive type of bariatric bypass surgery for weight-loss patients. Unlike the gastric bypass operation, the lap band operation doesn’t necessitate any stomach stapling or cutting. It may help you achieve constant, healthier, and safer weight reduction with fast healing.

Any surgery includes a degree of danger and ought to not be considered without due consideration. Then again, Lap band surgical treatment is the safest of all bariatric surgery with lowest drawbacks. Once you consider the danger involved with medical procedures against the risks related to obesity, you’ll discover the surgery to be far less precarious.

In the face of the evidence that demonstrates the awesome positive effect it may have on your physical condition and emotional well being, there are risks and things to consider with undergoing any operation. Bariatric operation is major gastrointestinal procedure that’s performed on overweight patients who are in danger of morbid obesity-connected chronic health conditions. The lap band technique is a bariatric procedure and similar to any alternative abdominal operations it carries risks.

Important thing to take away concerning Gastric Band Surgery… Don’t let the sun set on your life, and be regretting one moment. The Lab Band surgery is something we recommend for most people. Take the bull by the horns and talk to a weight loss surgeon!

New research on Super-obesity Weight Loss Surgery indicates that the veterans who were classified as being superobese and those who do have increased levels of chronic disease are much more prone to die within a year of undergoing weight loss surgery. This is in accordance to an article entitled, Predictors of Long-term Mortality After Bariatric Surgery Performed in Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, found in the Archives of Surgery, a magazine of JAMA this year.

Looking At the latest study, the patients who have class 3 obesity, also identified as “super obesity”, are much more liable to pass away within a year of weight loss procedures. Super obesity is defined as someone having a BMI (Body mass index) of over 40 or more.

The question with the medical investigations of the past regarding weight loss procedures was the fact that most of the studies was completed on youthful females undergoing those procedures. Their health was not impacted as much as they were more able to take the surgery with a very minimal rate of morbidity. Nonetheless, this review shows that for an older research group concerning the death rate was a good deal higher within one year of the surgical procedure.

Bariatric Statistics on Super Obesity

Overall, a total of 54 out of the 856 individuals (or 6.3%) died within one year of weight-loss surgery. In the evaluation of the statistics between the super obese and individuals who had a generally greater comorbidity score (indicating more chronic disease), it was demonstrated that there was a higher rate of bereavement in those with chronic disease. Nonetheless, the rates for both groups were higher than those of previous medical research not involving the super obese or older men.

When examined on the whole, bariatric doctors need to be up-front with individuals who are super obese about the potential problems and risk involved by undergoing weight-loss surgery (particularly coupled with chronic illness and being an senior male). If you’re super obese who are thinking about bariatric surgical treatment, beware that the risks are far higher for morbidity following a weight loss operation. All problems need to be considered and compared against the achievable benefits.

Gastric bypass surgery is far and away the most used surgical intervention for the morbidly obese in this country these days. According to statistics, there are over 140,000 gastric bypass operations every year in the United States. The most important feature of this procedure is that there is a division of the upper stomach from the lower portion of the stomach. The upper piece of the stomach is not quite as large as the lower part. It was very commonplace up until a few years back, for surgeons to use staples to close each of the two stomach rows that were sliced during the gastric bypass operation. Even so, in a GBS (Gastric Bypass), the intermediate segment of the small intestine is linked to the lower portion of the stomach, while the upper section is coupled directly to the original connection point in the small intestines. The objective is to cut down the volume of the stomach so that not as many calories can be consumed at any one meal. This will trigger weight loss.

Alternatives to Gastric Bypass

Even if it is a prevalent procedure, there are alternatives to the gastric bypass surgical procedure. Medical procedures like vertical-banded gastroplasty, aadjustable gastric banding surgery, and biliopancreatic surgery offer obese individuals a great deal of choices from the bariatric clinic in how they will proceed to treat the obesity.

Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band Surgery

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric (also called Lap Band) banding is a different category of bariatric operation. These are also called adjustable gastric band surgery. They are sought-after since they are a lot less invasive than other types of weight loss procedures. In this surgery, an inflatable band is tightened like a girdle and will partition the stomach into two portions. Lap Band patients may have to work harder to achieve weight loss in first couple of years, but it tends to help the patient develop good nutritional habits which helps to maintain weight stability. Because it requires no surgical cuts on the digestive tract itself, the bariatric surgery is a much less invasive surgery for the patient to undergo.

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty, Also Well-Known As Stomach Stapling

A different operation that helps with weight loss in obese individuals is what is called vertical banded gastroplasty, also well-known as stomach stapling. The surgery is a restrictive technique of weight loss bariatric surgery that reduces down the volume of the stomach by isolating the stomach into two sections with a petite stomach pouch formed using a band and staples. Because the individual consumes less calories per serving, a nice amount of fat can be lost. Losing weight using this surgery is not as great as gastric bypass results, nor could it maintain weight loss for longer period of time.

Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch

The biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch removes 80% of the stomach. The key element to this form of weight loss operation is the fact that a great deal of the small intestine is bypassed. Perpetual weight loss can be attained permanently, but the bariatric surgery is not used very often any longer since there are difficulties will digestive malabsorption. Patients be liable to develop malnutrition with vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

So if you are shopping around for an alternative to Gastric Bypass surgery, there are several. These are presently the major weight-loss surgeries that can be done morbidly obese patients. In advance of starting on any weight loss program, experts recommend that you consult a medical doctor the route to helping you accomplish it in the right way. They can lead you on how to restrict calories and recommend an excercise regimen that is safe with your physical capabilities. Weight loss surgical treatment is not a speedy fix to your weight problems. It is conversely a tool. It is a system to help you survive a longer life, by reducing the risk of coronary disease, stroke, diabetes, and other chronic health troubles connected with obesity.

When you’re undergoing bariatric weight-loss procedures, it is good to have friends and relatives that will support you all the way through the whole process. There are still research that shows that a individual who has undergone gastric bypass surgery will still return to their weight if support is not accessible. They can still revert to overindulging which might lead to significant problems like expansion of the pouch or even complete rupture of the stomach. Lots of gastric bypass patients join support groups committed to serving other people who are going through the same troubles following bariatric surgery.

Candidacy for bariatric surgery is decided primarily by your BMI or Body Mass Index. Everyone with a BMI of 40 or more is an automatic approval for weight loss surgery, as is anyone with a BMI of 35 or more with certain co-morbidity factors.

Whether or not weight loss surgery is worth the money has a simple answer; it all depends. While that may not have necessarily been the answer that you were looking for, it is the truth. For many individuals, weight loss surgery is well worth it; however, there are others who don’t end up benefiting from weight loss surgery. To determine if weight loss surgery is worth the cost to you, personally, you will want to take a number of factors into consideration.

One of the many factors that you will want to mull over, when determining if weight loss surgery is worth the cost for you, is your weight. You will find that many weight loss surgeons require that you are at least eighty pounds overweight to undergo weight loss surgery. With that in mind, you may be able to find a doctor who will make an exception, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should opt for surgery. If you are able to try to lose the weight on your own, through the use of exercise, eating healthy, or diet pills, you may find it more affordable to do so. I certainly recommend it if you can do that.

Do you have the ability to set goals and follow through on them? Weight loss surgery may help you lose weight right away, but the surgery alone will not help you lose weight. You can even cause yourself harm if you overeat following a bariatric operation, so you have to be prepared to follow the guidelines of what the doctor tells you. If this is a problem, then a surgery like gastric bypass or even lap band surgery is not for you.

Is weight loss surgery right for you?

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many that can help you decide if weight loss surgery is right for you or if it is worth the cost. As a reminder, it is important that you take the time to first consult with your doctor. Not all individuals are candidates for weight loss surgery.

Important Factors In Determining The Need to Have Bariatric Surgery

BMI Index

Comorbid Chronic Conditions

Psychological Health

Money - Can you get the money to afford wls?

Determination to Lose Weight

Most health insurance policies actively cover surgery for weight loss. The majority require a letter of medical necessity from the prescribing doctor which states that it is not simply for improving one’s looks but is definitely in need of medical attention. The bariatric center can provide a detailed letter to the medical insurance company which will by and large result in pre-certification of coverage. Some health insurance companies may try to deny you health insurance coverage despite the doctor’s recommendation. It is then your responsibility to contact the health insurance carrier and be more assertive in your appeal. The weight loss surgery clinic that you use can often help direct you in what needs to be done to be successful in obtaining health insurance coverage for your bariatric procedure..

Which insurance companies cover bariatric surgery?

You will want to obtain a copy of your current insurance policy to determine if these procedures are covered. It isn’t always to so easy to navigate the waters in terms of getting the coverage you need for weight loss surgery. That is why most bariatric centers will help you along the way to get the approval that you need. Work with them closely to get the approval you need. They have the experience and will generally know what companies do and don’t cover.

Some health insurance companies that cover weight loss surgery are:

Blue Cross/Blue Shield (not in all states)

First Health

United Healthcare

Aetna

PHCS

How About Medicare?

In February 2006, Medicare started covering Adjustable Lap Band Surgery and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (open or laparoscopic). In addition to meeting standard patient criteria, Medicare coverage only applies when the bariatric procedure is done in a hospital or by a medical practice that is awarded a “Center of Excellence” by the American College of Surgeons or the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. In general, if the procedure is performed by a Bariatric Center of Excellence team, Medicare normally pays for it as long as a patient falls within Medicare’s guidelines. Medicare requires patients to have a BMI of 35 or more with at least one considerable chronic health problem. Medicare has a coverage policy manual that you need to become familiar with, but your bariatric clinic staff will be very helpful if you need answers. It will not cover liposuction. Related Terms: Obesity Surgery, Gastric Bypass Surgery expensive, Bariatric Surgery, Bariatric Surgery Costs, Paying for Gastric Bypass Surgery
